You Are A Product of Your Experiences
by Musthafa Ebadi on February 10th, 2014

Sitting for a quick lunch with one of my best friends we were remembering some people who had played an important role in our personal and professional life. Later that evening I started to think about those people, and try to figure out why we learnt as much as we did from them. Were they more intelligent than others? Were they blessed with sharp minds? Or did they have more aptitude compared to rest of our contacts?

In the end I realized that one common trait among all of them were that they were smart. So what made them smart?

I firmly believe that God has given us all equal amount of brain and aptitude, and yet over time some people are smarter than others.  Some people come across more intelligent than an average person, and you can learn much more from them than others. Believing in Everything Has A Why I started to dissect why some people smarter than the others.

Thinking more about each of the persons I and my friend had discussed I realized that they were who they were because of the magnitude of experiences they had in life. They had learnt from those experiences and were now applying that knowledge in their day to day life.

If you think about it life continues to throw curve balls and fast balls at us most of the time, and we are expected to deal with them and address them appropriately.  Go back and think about setbacks, disappointments, and failures in your last 5  or 7 or 10 years. If you are honest with yourself you will have 10s or 100s of them in that span.   Now if you analyze and try to come up with the mistakes you made that led to those set backs, disappointments, and failures its the best education you can give yourself. I am sure there are other factors and persons who have also contributed to those events in life however they are out of your control. What will you learn from blaming them?

You can either blame the uncontrollable and let that experience go to waste, or you could focus on your mistakes and bad decision in each of the events, learn from it, and become a smarter person.  The choice is 100% yours.

Know that none of us are born smart or dumb, its what we do with our experiences in life that sets us apart.
